Salvia ‘Kisses and Wishes’
Salvia ‘Kisses and Wishes’
The fourth color to be introduced in the ‘Wish’ Series of Salvia, joining ‘Wendy’s Wish’ (purple & pink), ‘Embers Wish’ (bright red), and ‘Love and Wishes’ (dark purple & red), ‘Kisses and Wishes’ is sure to add beauty and elegance to your garden.
This new variety was discovered as a mutation in a batch of ‘Wendy’s Wish’ by Sussex, England-based nurserywoman Sarah Knott. It was launched at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show in 2018 and has been winning the hearts of professional and home gardeners ever since. A fun bit of trivia: Each of the Salvias in the ‘Wish’ series was developed by a different breeder, and ‘Kisses and Wishes’ is the first to be developed outside of Australia. Like its cousins in the ‘Wish’ series, partial proceeds from each purchase from the breeder are donated to the organization Make-A-Wish-Australia.
Salvia ‘Kisses and Wishes’ grows 30 inches tall and wide, is well-branched and covered with soft pink, tubular flowers borne in open racemes. No deadheading is required as the old flowers simply drop off when finished blooming. This Salvia blooms from spring – fall, but will need protection from frost through the winter. The flowers attract Bees, Butterflies and Hummingbirds, making it a natural choice for pollinator-friendly gardens. Plant in full sun to partial shade, in well-drained soil.
