Dianthus barbatus ‘Amazon™ Neon Purple’

Bright and bold flower clusters, grown on long, sturdy stems make Dianthus barbatus ‘Amazon™ Neon Purple’ a must have for cut flower gardens. Blooming almost year-round, these perennials thrive in full sun along the coast and light shade in hottest areas. They prefer regular water and light, well-drained soil. This variety of Dianthus grow 18-36” tall x 10-12” wide and have a vigorous growth habit.

They were awarded the Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit for their outstanding performance in home gardens. These beauties attract Butterflies and Hummingbirds and are gorgeous as the “Thriller” component of a “Thriller, Filler, Spiller” combination. A couple of suggested plants to complete the combination are Gaillardia ‘Arizona Apricot’ as the “Filler”, and Lobelia ‘Trailing Sapphire’ as the “Spiller”.

The Sunset Western Climate Zones are A2, A3; 1-24. They are cold hardy to 20°F, and require no vernalization for flowering.
