Coreopsis grandiflora 'Early Sunrise'
This All-American Selection Winner is sure to brighten your garden in more ways than one! A heat and drought tolerant perennial, Coreopsis grandiflora boasts bright golden-yellow blooms beginning early in spring and lasting through late summer. Continuous and more profuse blooming is encouraged by removing spent blooms as they appear. Long, slender stems reach one to two feet in height and host narrow dark green foliage closer to the base. The long stems make ‘Early Sunrise’ a spectacular cut flower. An individual C. grandiflora usually spreads about three feet, making it ideal for mass planting or as a stand alone along border edges or in a flower garden. The lovely blooms attract birds, butterflies, and other beneficial pollinators.
If you’re looking for something deer will steer clear of, this Coreopsis is your go-to. It thrives in full sun and well drained soil, requiring little to moderate watering. The New Sunset Western Garden Book deems Zones 2-24, H1 and H2 suitable growing environments. We currently have gallon size C. grandiflora ‘Early Sunrise’ in full bloom here at Clearwater Color.
