Lavandula stoechas ‘Silver Anouk’ (Spanish Lavender)
Lavandula stoechas ‘Silver Anouk’ (Spanish Lavender)
Lavender is one of the most beloved perennials found in home gardens, flower farms and public landscapes. For centuries people have cultivated the many different varieties of Lavender for their culinary, medicinal, and fragrance qualities. Lavandula stoechas ‘Silver Anouk’ is fairly new in the horticultural industry and has quickly become a favorite at Clearwater Color Nursery.
‘Silver Anouk’ has a compact growth habit with brilliant silver foliage that contrasts beautifully with its dark purple and lavender flowers. The two-toned flowers have a shape similar to a pineapple, with sweet little “rabbit ears” emerging from the top. These attractive flowers have a sweet lavender fragrance that is irresistible to bees and butterflies, however deer and rabbits tend to leave them alone.
This low maintenance lavender has strong disease resistance and is drought tolerant once established. When irrigating, it is best to water deeply and then allow soil to dry before watering again. As with most Spanish Lavenders, ‘Silver Anouk’ is a heavy bloomer in the spring and will provide another flush of bloom in early fall if pruned back after the initial blooms are spent. It grows 10 – 14” tall and 12 – 18” wide and is great for containers and small spaces. When mass planted, ‘Silver Anouk’ makes a stunning display. Planted alongside your vegetables and herbs, this sweet lavender will draw in beneficial pollinators, helping to ensure an abundant harvest.
