Nemesia strumosa ‘Sundrops Mix’ & ‘Carnival Mix’
Nemesia strumosa ‘Sundrops Mix’ & ‘Carnival Mix’
Nemesia strumosa ‘Sundrops Mix’ & ‘Carnival Mix’ are annual bedding plants that bloom profusely throughout the spring and summer. ‘Sundrops Mix’ has delicate, compact clusters of brightly-colored flowers that have 4 lobes on top, and 2 on the bottom, resembling snapdragon flowers. ‘Carnival Mix’ has more of an upright growth habit, with an abundance of fanciful blooms. Both have square stems, and opposite leaves. Nemesia is in the Figwort family, or Scrophulariaceae family, containing 62 genera and 1,830 species.
Nemesia’s love full sun and afternoon shade in the heat of summer, as they are native to the sandy coastal regions of the West Cape of South Africa. Given soil that is high in organic matter and well drained, they will bring so much color to your garden, their foliage can be invisible. Avoid standing water, as over moistness will cause stem rot. Cut back after a big bloom to encourage another bloom cycle. Plant Nemesia with Pansy’s, Snapdragons, Dianthus, or Lineria to add extra pop of contrasting flower colors to your garden. The bright colors of ‘Carnival Mix’ pairs nicely with Nasturtiums, adding a touch of whimsy as they billow over the sides of window-boxes. Both varieties of Nemesia are great for small beds, mixed borders, containers and hanging baskets. We are currently selling Nemesia ‘Carnival Mix’, & Nemesia ‘Sundrops Mix’ in 6 packs.
