How to use Smooth & Simple Wood Stains:

Surface Preperation: Start with well-sanded raw wood that is clean and free of grease and olis.

Staining the Wood:

  1. Test the stain color on a hidden area of your project. Please note that color varies depending on type of wood used.

  2. Select your method of application. Smooth & Simple Wood Stains may be applied with a lint-free cloth, brush, foam brush, or abrasive pad.

  3. Saturate the wood surface liberally and evenly to allow stain to penetrate the wood surface.

  4. Wipe off ALL excess stain on the wood surface with a clean, lint-free cloth.

  5. Allow 30 minutes to one hour drying time. As with all water-based dye stains, the Smooth & Simple Wood Stains will appear lighter and more opaque when dry, and the true color will reappear immediately upon application of your clear topcoat finish.

  6. Clean applicators with soap and water.

Sealing the Wood:

Smooth & Simple Wood Stains may be sealed with any clear finish such as oil, wax, varnish, shellac, lacquer, polyurethanes, etc. As is true of all aniline dye stains, Smooth & Simple Wood Stains are NOT intended for exterior use or for pieces planned for exposure to extensive ultraviolet radiation.
